DISPENSING KNOWLEDGE

Diving into the Science of Cannabis Vape Cart Safety

Through the beginning of September, there has been a few reports in the national media concerning Cannabis Vape Cartridges and the safety of their contents. We'd like to take this moment to confirm that we only use Cannabis Terpenes and Full-Spectrum EHO Oil or Hash Rosin in all of our vapable products. We have never used PG, VG, Acetates, thinners or additives in our Cartridges and Pax Pods.

All cannabis products sold for consumption are tested by third-party, state-certified labs in compliance with strict testing guidelines. In accordance with Massachusetts law, all products must pass testing to confirm no contaminants, residual solvents, or heavy metals are present before being sold.

Furthermore, we'd like to remind our community of the types of vapable products we offer, as well as the processes used to create them. See below for a breakdown based on the two main extraction methods we utilize: Solvent & Solventless.

Solvent-Based Vape Cartridges & Pax Pods:

  • Cannabis Derived Terpene Cartridges & Pax Pods - Created using full-spectrum EHO oil and re-introduced cannabis terpenes

    • EHO Oil Extraction Process: We start with a cold ethanol extraction, then filter to remove chlorophyll, winterize to remove waxes, activate the oil (decarboxylate), and purge the ethanol out of the oil in vacuum ovens.

    • Cannabis Derived Terpenes: Sourced from lab certified vendor

  • Small-Batch Terp Sauce Cartridges: Created using full-spectrum EHO oil and re-introduced in-house extracted cannabis terpenes

    • EHO Oil Extraction Process: We start with a cold ethanol extraction, then filter to remove chlorophyll, winterize to remove waxes, activate the oil (decarboxylate), and purge the ethanol out of the oil in vacuum ovens.

    • Cannabis Derived Terpenes: Extracted in-house using mechanical separation extraction from single harvest strain

  • Compared to other solvent-based extraction methods (Co2, BHO, etc.), ethanol yields a significant portion of the original starting material’s cannabinoids and terpenes. This means that the consistency of the full-spectrum final product will be thicker in viscosity as well as take on a dark amber color compared to other solvent-based extraction methods.

Solventless Vape Cartridges & Pax Pods:

  • Small-Batch Hash Rosin Cartridges & Pax Pods: Created using Solventless Hash Rosin only (terpenes are preserved vs. re-introduced)

    • Hash Rosin Extraction Process: Extracted in-house using a proprietary method of mechanical separation. The process involves reapplying low heat and pressure to Hash Rosin to achieve the desired consistency to be able to put into a Cartridge/ Pax Pod. Nothing is added to achieve this consistency. The total active cannabinoids (TAC) of these cartridges is lower because to achieve this consistency it requires a greater concentration of preserved cannabis derived terpenes compared to rosin in a jar.
